Why we built this
Folio and Kit started with a simple observation: there are enormously talented creators out there — funny, warm, genuinely good at what they do — who never seem to land the brand deals they deserve. Not because their content isn't good enough. Because nobody ever taught them the unglamorous, business side of it: how to price a rate card, how to read a contract, how to present themselves as a professional when they don't have a manager or an agency in their corner.
Megha spent over twenty years as a software professional before starting Folio and Kit. What pulled her toward this particular problem was watching the creator economy up close for well over a decade — not as an industry outsider, but as someone who'd followed a wide range of creators — many of them small at the time — through her own different chapters of life: professional and personal, single and coupled, in India and the UK, and now as a mom to young kids. She kept noticing the same pattern: real talent, real audiences, and a whole lot of smaller creators who were still figuring out the business side entirely on their own.
At the same time, it felt like exactly the right moment. The tools now available — especially what modern AI models could do — made it possible to build the kind of support that used to require a manager or an agency, and make it available to any creator, from their very first paid deal. So she built Folio and Kit: a place where a creator can get the boring, essential parts of the business right, without needing an entire team behind them.
